so this is my first attempt to add video, now i am linking to Youtube, because that was the only i could get it to work

Here’s how to embed the video – it’s kind of a pain, but worth it.
First, go to the video page on YouTube, and find the chunk of code in the box named “Embed”. Select that whole chunk of code, and copy it.
Then, edit this post. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART – in the editor, switch from the regular “visual” editor to the HTML/Code view. There should be a tab/link above the post body text box to do this.
Once you’ve done that, go to where you want to the video to be, and paste in that embed code you copied before.
Save the post, and the video should be embedded and working.
One thing to be aware of – if you edit the post AGAIN after saving it with the embed code, WordPress will screw up the embed code, and the video will stop working. So don’t edit your post after you’ve put the video code in, or, if you have to, re-paste the video code when you edit the post.
