Update on Kathy

For all of you following the biking accident with Kathy Hurd and Kathi Sturgeon, I did get some news today about the gal who hit them, Brandi Thomas’, arraignment.

Yesterday in court, Brandi pleaded not guilty to the charges being brought against her, and was ordered back to jail with a higher bail.  Brandi is being charged with felony DUI with great bodily injury and multiple victim enhancements. Her bail was set previously at $35,000 and was raised yesterday to $65,000.  Records are showing Brandi submitted blood alcohol samples ranging between .08 and .10.

The next status hearing will be held August 4th.

Kathy Hurd was at the arraignment, with a great supporting group of the Bodacious Biking Babes, which both Kathy and Kathi are members. Let’s hope this doesnt take a long time to resolve, and doesnt involve countless hours in court determining the guilt.

On another note… tonight i dropped the kids off at Max’s friends house for a sleepover, its seems very weird to be home by myself … no husband… no kids… free to do whatever I want, and I’m stuck working to finalize a presentation for a meeting I have tomorrow in Santa Clara (hence the reason the kids needed a place to be at 6am tomorrow morning till 6:30 pm tomorrow night).

oh well… ran to starbucks (that was nice to have the freedom to do that)… now home with my cat :)

Monday bluuuzzz

Wow, not so sure what it is today, but i couldnt feel any less motivated, or any less excited to be at work. Maybe realization has hit that I am totally back in the swing of things, I have 4 projects I need to keep afloat at the same time (something I did with ease before leaving on sabbatical), not as willing to do now, as I was before.

So what is that? Denial? Stubborness? Mid Life Crisis? Missing my family?  Who knows, all I know is that I’d better snap out of it or I am going to get snapped right out of a job!

I still feel like 1/2 the things I do are unneccessary and are just done to either keep me busy, or to appease someone higher up… someone who has asked us to do something, and we havent asked why, or havent asked what they would like out of it… how do we measure it, or even, can it be measured.  I of course start asking the question, but rarely get answers.

So… I’ve got a call now, so I’d better get on it, and be productive. My goal today is to walk out of the building with 1/2 of the ARs I gave myself to do, done!

Wish me luck!

Nice Weekend

Weekend started with a visit to Kathy Hurd’s house Friday night (boys were still camping, and Mady went to a friends house). Kathy looked so good, she is healing very well, walking around a bit slow, but very mobile!  She can bend and reach, just not over her head, becuase of her collarbone still healing. Her eyebrow is just about grown back, and her road rash is healing, almost gone!  Of course the mental healing might take a while, she still cant get over what happened, and how bad Kathi Sturgeon had been injured (see update here).  The arrainment for Brandi Thomas, the gal that hit them, is Tuesday. Many of the biking community will be there to support the victims. Kathy’s  not sure what it will entail but I am sure they will at least decide if there is a trial or not. I left Kathy’s house with a bag full of clothes for Mady from Rachel. Mady was in heaven.

Saturday, I took Mady shopping to buy some clothes to complement the ones Rachel gave her, and she is ready for school now. We got home just as the guys were getting back from camp.

Max wanted to go to BJs for dinner, so off we went. And that really was the rest of our day, the guys were beat and went to bed early.

Today, was a productive day, as we decided we would have a Garage Sale on Saturday, which meant a lot of cleaning out. Both D and I went though our closets, knowing from last garage sale, his t-shirts went like hot cakes! Kids decided which toys they could live without, they like the idea of getting money.  Mady wants to have a Lemonade and Cookie stand with her friend Katie, so that will be fun for them.

tonight I am fixing my infamous brussel sprouts (sorry Dad you are not here!!) along with the great pork tenderloin recipe that goes along with it :) Max wanted artichokes, so i got 1 ea for the kids, and D and i will eat the brussel sprouts :)

Kind of ready for the week, wishing I could have one more day. Trip to Santa Clara on thursday this week, I have a lot of preparation for that meeting to get done before then.

Until next time.

Innundated

Innundated: Wow… word of the day (or week I guess) seems like i haven’t come up for air all day! Work has really gotten me buried, and I cant even stay atop it all… I have so much back burnered, its going to come back and get me when its due, and I am going to have to scramble to get it done. Story of my life. And I cant even call it procrastination, as I am so busy doing higher priority items, that they just get back burnered until they become priority. Sure fire way to do everything mediocre and nothing of greatness. Not the best  environment, but its what we have to work with.

Boys are away at camp, hopefully having the time of their lives, fishing, hiking, canoeing, bonfires, eating, ghost stories, archery, bb guns, wideling with thier knifes… wow cub-scouts, a ton of fun for them!

Me and my daughter have had fun just toodling around, and playing lots of board games. Backgammon, just teaching her that.. she’s a quick learner! She’s at a swim party now, for brownies, i will go get her soon.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday, not sure I could do another day before a weekend!

mid day dreaming

As I sit here contemplating my next email, and lucky to have two monitors, one with my screen background as one of my favorite photos from our vacation. DSC_4018

its a picture from DisneyWorld, at the Boma Restaurant at Animal Kingdom, where we came on our 2nd night of our vacation. We walked in, and they had our table waiting, we really felt like royalty, from the minute we arrived (and we definately didnt look like royalty the way we were dressed). We asked the waiter to take our picture and he took, probably 10. He was having so much fun, for this one he stood up on a chair, and with the fisheye lens got a fabulous shot of the buffet, the atmosphere of the restaurant, caught every one of us with great genuine smiles, and created just a true memory of our trip.

If you ask the kids what the best part of their trip was, Boma restaurant is on their top 3 list. It wasnt the food or the location, or even the fact that there were safari animals right outside the door, it was truly the service we got and how we were treated BOTH times we dined at the restaurant.

I just love looking at the picture, because really it didnt only  make the kids top 3 list, it definately made mine!

ok… back to work.

Busy week ahead

Weekend was good, productive, 2 big black garbage bags to prove it!  Did all the social activies we were committed too as well, so we did well.

Boys are ready to head off to camp Wed. morning, all the necessities are packed and ready to go. Forms, tests and all :)

Daughter has Art Class this week MWF… she’s focusing on “Jungle” this week, which should really produce some very colorful art… im excited to see.  So between the camp preparation and the odd hours of the the art class, im going to be quite busy just being a chauffer.

I cant believe we are only a bit over 3 weeks til school starts, kids are anxious to find out who their teachers are, and which friends will have the same classes.

Work is pretty much back to normal, launches happening, complaining at an all time high, and well… just pure… status quo :(   I think I can deal with it differently this go around, it really doesnt seem to be bothering me. Ive kept to my guns so far about taking time for myself, but still getting my job done, its a great combination :) .

Now you might be noticing im writing this during my lunch hour, which means I didnt get out of here for lunch, so maybe i will run out, for a walk.

TTFN

Friday… yippee!!!

Getting ready to go home… realizing that this week really flew by, thats a good thing I would say, since it was really my first full week back at work!

Not a lot of plans for the weekend except for planning the boys camping trip to Lassen with the Boy Scouts. Its an annual trip, and Father-Son building is fabulous! They have a blast together!

Soccer season is starting, we have a “get to know you BBQ” Sunday and Max will meet all his teammates for the year, from the roster looks like he knows 5 of the 12 teammates, so thats a start! Still determining the practice nights, and the game schedule, but will let ya know when those are, maybe you can attend one :)

Bought some FABULOUS white peaches at the farmers market thursday, they are so sweet with a bit of crunch, perferct for a salad I am thinking… and really want to make something tonight, so i will experiment and let you know how it turns out.

Was pleasantly surprised that the gas price had dropped 30 cents this week, I paid $4.23/gal or $62 to fill my tank, last fill up cost me $68, three weeks ago.

My WW at work program is on hiatus for 3 weeks, because they cant find enough participation, I need to remember to tell myself that does not mean I get an E-ticket to food, with no weigh in. Gotta stay on track.

hope to post over the weekend, have a GREAT weekend, the weather should be PERFECT here in the Sac area.

toodles!

A normal day

So… back to work just about a week now, and we’re at status quo. Today i chose to work from home, only because I thought i could be more productive, less interuptions and just more time to really focus on one topic that I really wanted to dig into (mind you… that didnt work, as I got side tracked into a different topic, and never got back to my all important one) I think I may work a bit tonight, to at least start to tackle my project.

Beautiful weather today, reached just about 90, I even went out at lunch and sat by the pool, and just vegged, it was splendid!

I picked the kids up and arranged for both of them to have a friend over tonight, as they really enjoy that, and that way they are not fighting with each other… (win win), all i have to do is feed them… not hard!

M1 and his friend are making a rollercoaster track from the top of the stairs to the game room into the living room… quite cool, and it works

M2 has been up in her room play dress up with all her good clothes… and doing a fashion show.. oh and lets not forget they painted each other nails and phew… the perfume just permeates throughout the hallways!

Its a good day/night… seems to be back to normal, and only 30 days left till school starts… then we’ve got tight schedules and whip cracking… humf.

Game on…

Was a splendid weekend, we did a lot of necessary organization around the house, the boys went to see Journey to the Center of the Earth, they both really liked it. While the girls did a Costco run. We did get a lot of necessary food we were completely out of, and a few unnecessary movies/books/and flippers as well. It was fun.

Sunday was spent rearranging the formal living room. This room has really always gotten little to no use. I am really the only one who uses it, just sit and read, away from it all.  But we decided to make it into a family game room, we’d been talking about it for awhile, but it was a chore, as we needed to move the Foosball table in from the shed (which meant removing the big ole legs). It turned out OK. Still feels a bit crowded, as I probably went overboard, with some of the items moved in.

I moved the “fake” fireplace up to our master bedroom, moved the “hope” chest which was full of comforters from, oh I don’t know 20 years ago, we good willed those, and filled the chest with all the family games we had in a cabinet upstairs. We kept the couch in the space, and we got a small game table (on clearance mind you :) ) and the kids love it… they pulled a game out of the “game” chest, put it on the table and played… sweet. And they had a wicked game of Foosball as well.  I’m still contemplating the placement of it all, D likes it… but I’m thinking its still a bit awkward.

Last night, i searched the fridge for leftovers for dinner, everyone was in the pool and I knew they’d be hungry. I had one of those pizza crusts from Pillsbury, in the can (from the fridge section) so i decided to cut those up into to tiny pieces (48 to be exact) and I placed the little squares into the bottom of the mini muffin pans, and then I proceeded to squirt on a bit of pizza sauce, a piece of pepperoni and a sprinkling cheese… and I cooked them for about 8 min. wow… I brought those out to the swimmers (included one of Max’s friends), and they DEVOURED them. it was sweet, as they just had to pop them in their mouth, not messy at all!  Was a good makeshift… snack (as they were still hungry after… yes after all 48!!

Now granted this doesn’t really fit into the WW core plan, but as far as points go, because they were so small i calculated the points and I could eat 2 for 1 point… which (didn’t fill me up) wasn’t that bad.

Back to work today, for a full week, with a nice surprise of D staying home today, so no rush to get the kids to camp, or pick them up tonight, which will make the trip to the grocery a bit less stressed. Gotta run to a meeting now.

Back to work… heavy sigh.

Not only is being back to work the suckiest… but… this is the worst air quality I have EVER experienced in my life. We are suppose to be Sunny California, and yet we can not even see the sun through all the crappy smoke… it literally stinks, you can taste it. NOT GOOD
here’s a neighborhood nearby

fire bad air quality

Work, how can i explain it??? alot of unneccessary urgency, things I couldnt get done before I left, still not done, but of course urgent… imagine that. Sabbatical sure changed my perspective on life. Both in and out of the office. Sure things can be urgent, but everything just cant be.

Kids did well today, their first day without Mommy :) , Im sure it will just get easier for them (unlike me, Im sure it will just get more mundane) seems harsh, but I really want to jazz up what I do, and maybe I can do that, by just jazzing up the way I do my job; I will have to give that some real thought.

Thanks to mikearmstrong99 I am now a member of FriendFeed quite the cool site, look me up as Tammy Pineda.

You know that things are back to normal, if you could see me now, propped up on my pillows in bed typing away, while watching… “so you think you can dance:)

that’s it for now!
