Where has the time gone…

Cant believe tomorrow is December… I knew it would sneak up, I told my kids on Halloween that Christmas was going to be here before we knew it… and sure enough. I took part in Black Friday shopping, my sister, mom and I decided there was enough at Target to knock out most of our shopping so we would go there. We’ve made the agreement amongst all family, that due to the economy we would focus solely on the kids for Christmas gifts, therefore, Target had all the gifts we needed.  We spent Thanksgiving week in Danville, which is always a great time, kids are going non stop, and Im able to relax, its perfect.

Tonight the kids opened their first gift of the season, their advent calendars. Mady’s is a Polly Pocket punch out calendar, and behind each day is either an animal, or an accessory for an animal, and Max’s is a pirate themed advent, where each day he opens a box with tiny little pieces to a pirates theme. Mady’s is easy… ready to go, but I had to put every little box together filling each with the correct pieces of the scene for each day. But thier excitement was all worth it… they even went to bed early so that they can wake up tomorrow and reveal their first surprise. It is so wonderful to see the kids get so excited about the little things.

Read the book Twilight over the break, really enjoyed it, and am anticipating reading the next in the series (New Moon) it was backordered at Borders… maybe i will order it online :)
Let me know if you have read the series and what you think!

Happy December!

Busy weekend

One week ago today, Mady had her earring  ripped out of her ear and had to get 3 stitches… went to the doc this weekend, and when he took the stitches out, it hadnt healed… Dermabond skin glue was then applied, hopefully this works, as Mady is not too excited about the 3rd step which would be a plastic surgeon, although she wasnt too sure what that was, she kinda figured it included needles.

Max had his last Pinewood Derby this weekend, as he is in his last year of CubScouts (WeBeLo2) and if he chooses will be in Boy Scouts next year.  The Derby was well run, alot of fun, lots of cars, lots of invested Dad’s, quite funny to see which cars were scout prepared, and which weren’t, you could just tell by the Dad’s reactions.  Max did well, built his own car, didnt win, but he had fun.

Max also had his All Star Soccer Tournament this weekend, boy was that a whirlwind of 3 soccer games. His first game was a 8am, two 18 min. 1/2s with no real 1/2 time, just to change sides of the field, so they would have 36 min. games, and the refs called NO fouls, only time the whistle blew was when someone got injured. The teams were pretty evenly matched, it was great to see the boys get out there to win. Max had a win, a loss and a tie. They had about a 40 min break between games, so essencially we were out there for 4 hours, and then done. Max walked away with a t-shirt and a medal, and was happy to have the season over. He has been playing on a bad heel for 3 weeks, so maybe now it will heal.

Mom and Dad returned home from Maui after 5 long months, so it was great to have them participate in all the weekend festivities, and just great to have them home! Holidays here we come!!

Off to a busy week of work and travel, Oregon first part of the week and a day trip to Santa Clara to finish the week off. Should be productive, and tiring which is a great reason to take all of next week off :)

Choir Video … awesome message :)

A terrific song performed by my daughter:) and all her 3rd – 5th grade choir-mates on Nov. 12th.

Planet Earth (not the name of the song, but the words most sung :) ) In This World Together

we enjoyed the performance, they did a fabulous job, and they really had a message with all their songs.

hope you enjoy as much as we did!

Soccer Mom

Well… its true… I guess I finally became a soccer mom. This weekend Max had 3 games, it was the city cup. Our first was at 8am on Saturday… it was cold and threatening rain, but stayed dry, the boys were barely awake, and lost the game 4-2. The second game was at 3:45 (so quite the break in between) but the boys case back with a vengence. We were all comfortable in our soccer chairs, although it was quite cold… the black clouds were rolling in… and bam… hit with sheets of rain instantly!! The boys had a blast, they were hootin and hollering how fun it was to play in the rain. The ref was making some really bad calls, the game was tied 1-1, we were just about ready to make a goal (in the pouring rain) and the other teams goalie said “ref, you have to call the field unsafe” and the ref (a 14 yr. old boy) blew his whistle, called the game. How frustrating was that for the boys (and all the soccer parents on our sidelines). Well, its all about the boys, so of course none of us said anything, but boy! so at that point we had 1 loss, and 1 tie.  The third game was Sunday at 11am. Was a beautiful day, sun was shining… nippy weather, perfect!

Boys were extremely excited to get back out there and win one!  And so they did. And they really played to  win. We were all so proud of them. You always wish at the end of the season they could have just a few more games,  they have finally worked enough together as a team, and now they are ready to play to win :) .

But the season is over, we had the “end of the year” party after the game. That sure was a good time, all the families went, nice community gathering.

Max still has one more weekend of soccer, as he was selected to play in the All Stars, and that will take place this coming weekend. He wont know his team mates (well maybe a few).  But of course these games compete with his Pinewood Derby at 8:30am this Saturday. So… should be a busy weekend, and a busy week leading up to it.

History in the making…

Im not a comentator, nor do i even pretend to know much about politics, but i will say, it was an amazing feeling no matter who one voted for, to see the amazing relief in peoples faces, and attitudes that we were finally done with the election and ready to move on and start fixing what is broken.

Here are a few things to take a look at and mark this monumental occassion

the flickr set with amazingly candid shots of the big night

I also find it simply amazing that the Obama transition team already has a website up and running, they are calling it Change.Gov Office of the President Elect

this site is inspiring, in the fact that not only is it great to see that the president of the United States actually cares about keeping the general public updated, but that he using the latest and greatest technologies to do so.  I sure hope this is a sign of the future and that we will be able to not only be better informed, but maybe even communicate with his office as simply as with a blog!

Check it out.

I’ll end with some great words from President Elect Obama: “Today we begin in earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today

And really… isn’t that all that matters?

New Web Browser (for me)

So Ive decided to try the new web browser, so far I really like it.

The browser is called Chrome… and you can get to the download page here Its a free download, and there really doesnt seem to be too many snafu’s yet.

There are some pages that I have visited that arent set up right, to view on Chrome, but its not that frequent.

some of the benefits are:

1. I like that you can search from the address bar
2. I really like the little thumbnails of my favorite pages, so i can just click and get there in lightning speed.
3. The tab feature I have gotten use to by using firefox, so i like it here… works a bit differently, but i actually like it better.
4. and the shortcuts are good too.

Since i just downloaded recently im sure there will be more soon, but for now, I’d say… Its free.. TRY IT!
